Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is an actor, journalist, television philanthropist and author for over ten years. In addition, she is the founder of The Huffington Post, an openly-liberal newsmagazine online. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family at 16 years old. At Cambridge University she earned a MA diploma in Economics. It was her first time as a student non-UK to hold the office of president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. The years that followed after her college graduation, she became an important conservative journalist who was syndicated. After a few years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political climate. Her status as a celebrity helped to get a number of prominent contributors to publish their thoughts about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003, when she ran independently in a recall contest in California to replace the then-Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit initiative to make cars more fuel efficient. Forbes listed her as the 12th most influential female within the field of media in 2009 and Guardian has also placed her on the list of Top 100 media during the same year. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and the post was made president by the media company. This included many AOL products at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. She was extremely close to her father. But it was her connection to her mother that formed her. She showed leadership traits throughout her childhood. When she turned 16 she relocating to the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first female and sole foreign president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned an MA in Economics.
