April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players to have won medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix Klineman, taking part for the very first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games and will attempt to win her third medal. In addition, Ross will be aiming for her very first Olympic gold. As she is 39 she could have her last shot. Still confident but she is not sure. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that if the team plays consistently or well it could be able to win gold. "I'm also going to try a little luck." Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her father, mother and sibling. At Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous sports. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball as well as basketball, track and running. She was definitely the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her high school volleyball career as per her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. In recognition of her accomplishments she was awarded the Gatorade Award for National Player 1999. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed their relationship in 2017 but Ross was a beach scene star for years before. In reality, she's won multiple big tournaments and one partner was an all-star volleyball player. Ross teamed up along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's personal trainer. Together with Kessy Ross, she won an Olympic Title in 2009, while racing on the international circuit. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor took home gold ahead of them. The fate of the matter was that Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. Together, they took home bronze medals in beach volleyball for the Rio Olympics of 2016. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She played during high school and in years prior to hitting the beach as a professional. Her time in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year when she was a teen freshman. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans get to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. The two years following her, she took the Trojans up the mountain and took home consecutive national championships. Ross was an excellent player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie never got to see Ross rise to the highest levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Her mother is still very dearly. Margie has inspired her both in her personal life and at the beach.
